The University of Oklahoma has 19 groups of sports teams. All teams of men and women are called Sooners. This nickname was given to former participants in the land rushes. With Blake Griffin’s John Wooden Award and Sam Bradford’s Heisman trophy, the university stood at the second place to have a top winner in both football and basketball in the year 2002.

He was the main initiator of the invincible 2000 Oklahoma Sooners team. The Sooners won 2000 NCAA DI-A championship in his tenure. In 2001, he won bronco Nagurski Trophy as the team’s most renowned defender. He also won Jim Thrope award for his quality defensive prowess. In the same year he gave his team a record breaking lead of 10-2 by winning over Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl Classic. He was among the top 12 defenders in the world. For his exception action in 2001 Red River Shootout, he was called as “superman” in Oklahoma University. With his immaculate strength and unbelievable speed, he has been able to keep the game alive in the University of Oklahoma. There’s complex in OU which is named after Roy Williams because of his success and his donation of around 100,000 for its construction.
